RESIDENCE UNIV. ESTEBAN BALLESTER BUILDING

The Esteban Ballester University Residence is located in the heart of Valencia, in a dynamic and multicultural urban environment that reflects the essence of the city. This project responds to the need to create a space that not only serves as accommodation but also fosters coexistence and cultural exchange among students from various disciplines. The design premise focuses on creating an environment that promotes learning and socialisation, while respecting the historical and architectural context of the area.

The layout of the residence is based on a functional organisation that maximises the use of space. Spacious common areas have been designed, such as study rooms, leisure zones, and a dining room that integrates the kitchen. The rooms, both individual and shared, have been arranged so that each resident has their own private space, without losing connection to the common areas. Elements such as internal courtyards and balconies favour the entry of natural light and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, vital for the well-being of the students.

Regarding materials, a combination of exposed concrete, wood, and ceramics has been chosen, providing durability and warmth at the same time. The finishes are simple and functional, with a contemporary design that harmoniously integrates with the surroundings. The lighting has been meticulously considered, using natural light during the day and efficient LED systems at night, contributing to a relaxing atmosphere conducive to study. This project not only aims to provide a place to sleep but also to create a home where students can feel inspired and connected to their environment.
