Restaurante Gururú
BTTEstudio Arquitectura was commissioned to design the complete transformation of this restaurant located on a large plot of 4,000 m² in Godella. The intervention proposes a direct dialogue with the natural environment, making the existing vegetation the true protagonist of the space.
The central concept of the project was to integrate the exterior with the interior to the point of blurring the boundaries between the two. To achieve this, a lightweight metal structure was developed that allows for large skylights and creates authentic glass “aquariums.” These transparent boxes frame the existing vegetation, allowing trees to visually penetrate the space and generate the sensation of dining outdoors without leaving the restaurant.
Natural light enters from above, accompanied by projected shadows of branches and leaves, transforming each table into a small changing scenic space throughout the day.
The interior of the restaurant is articulated through a careful selection of natural materials:
- Warm wood as the main and organising element.
- Natural stone that adds texture and rootedness.
- Rope and plant fibres that reinforce the organic aesthetic.
- Brick and rustic finishes that converse with the Mediterranean character of the surroundings.
Each material was chosen not only for its aesthetic but also for its ability to connect with the landscape and create an honest, welcoming, and timeless atmosphere.
The exterior design uses river stone to frame the pathways and terraces. Vegetation remains an essential part of the experience: patios, shaded areas, and lounge spaces invite rest and leisurely enjoyment.
The main terrace, with wooden flooring and tensioned shaded areas, creates a relaxed atmosphere that accompanies the dining experience from the appetizer to the after-dinner.
Gurugú is not just a place to eat; it is a space where the user experiences nature from within. Every corner has been conceived to offer an immersive, calm, and Mediterranean experience, where architecture and landscape unite in the same language.
