RESIDENCE UNIV. TRINITARIOS BUILDING

Located in the heart of Ciutat Vella, the Residencia Universitaria Trinitarios is a project of full refurbishment that recovers an existing building of eight dwellings to adapt it to contemporary student accommodation needs, transforming it into a university residence while respecting its original architectural identity.

The intervention focuses on the enhancement of traditional construction elements, such as the complete refurbishment of the natural wood structure, maintaining the original system of beams and ceramic vaults, as well as the recovery of the old exposed brick, which is integrated as an essential part of the building’s interior character.

The project preserves the original modulation of façade openings, incorporating new natural wood windows with 5+5 glazing and an air chamber, complying with current standards of energy efficiency and comfort without altering the morphology of the envelope.

The proposal combines a contemporary and functional approach with a deep respect for the historical environment in which it is situated. The design prioritises the entry of natural light, cross ventilation, and the creation of common spaces that encourage interaction among residents.

The result is a university residence that engages with its context, updates its structure without losing authenticity, and offers a sustainable and welcoming urban environment. All of this was accomplished by our team in a record execution period of 14 months, thanks to precise planning and efficient coordination among the various agents involved in the process.
