The Casa NR4 project is located in an urban environment in Valencia, where the need to update an existing dwelling has guided the design towards a refurbishment that respects the original essence of the building while introducing contemporary solutions. The client’s brief proposed a redesign that optimises the spaces, enhances functionality, and brings natural light to all rooms. The intervention aims to integrate the dwelling into its context, promoting both family coexistence and personal well-being.

The space distribution in Casa NR4 has been carefully considered to encourage fluidity and connection between different areas. Specific zones have been defined, including a bright living room, an open and functional kitchen, as well as bedrooms that ensure privacy. A notable element of the design is the use of movable panels that allow for the reorganisation of space according to daily needs, creating a dynamic environment. The large windows have been designed to maximise the entry of natural light, establishing a direct relationship between the interior and the exterior.

Regarding materials and finishes, a palette of neutral tones has been chosen to provide warmth and modernity, using recycled wood for the floors and white plaster finishes that create a cosy atmosphere. The corten steel elements in structural details and furniture provide an interesting visual contrast, while the use of glass in railings and partitions contributes to a sense of lightness and spaciousness. Technical details such as the installation of efficient climate control systems and the incorporation of thermal insulation ensure optimal comfort and lower energy consumption, aligning with current sustainability demands.
